Sometimes I do wonder, what is the best relationship one can have with their colleagues. The relationship with colleagues can be kinda hard to manage, a little bit of a distance is essential for professional reasons, but we do prefer the relationship to be a bit closer than "work acquaintances". Afterall, we do spend most of our weekdays with our colleagues, they are the ones who share your laughts at work, the jokes at work, the ones who who give you a push if needed. But by saying that, because of the "intimidation" level we have with our colleagues, they tend to be the ones who have higher possibilities of having a conflict with us.
My relationship with my colleagues is kinda complicated as we do know each other as more than a "work acquaintance" but at the same time we do manitain a certain level of distance. I must admit I do prefer this type of relationship, I can have my own space but at the same time I do have someone to talk to at work.I know i am a weird one, most of the time i do prefer to be isolated and alienated from others. But sometimes i do like to have a bit of socialisation.
My Work colleague -Yasmine arranged a dinner gathering last Friday night (forgive my procastination in blogging) for all of us @ Little Malaysia (26 Liverpool St Melbourne 3000 VIC Phone: (03) 9662 1678). I do enjoy this type of arrangement where we can enjoy good food while still can have a good chat with each other.

The exterior of Little Malaysia does not give much away, the little window at the side gives you a quick glimpse inside the restaurant. We were quite impressed with the décor of Little Malaysia as it is very simple and cosy. As Yasmine and I studied the menu beforehand, we knew exactly what we wanted to order before the menus were given to us. Kekekek… this is called a typical foodie !!! We ordered Roti Canai, special mixed entrée,Chili Chicken, Satay Beef and beef Rendang. The special mixed entrée was delicious !! The roti canai was not too bad at all, i would not say it is as good as the one we can get from Malaysian mamaks. But it was almost 80% authenthic in the sense that it was thicker instead of crispy. The curry sauce that came with it was also very well-cooked and flavorful. I think these explained why no pictures were taken for these two dishes, we were too keen to dine in at that time.

Beef Rendang is a tough dish to cook and I reckon that even in Malaysia, not many people can cook it right. I am sorry to say that the beef rendang at Little Malaysia wasn't good at all. I was very disappointed with the beef rendang, it was a tad too dry for me and the beef was not tender enough, but overall the taste was passable. The chili chicken and satay beef were average, nothing too impressive.

All in all though, I think Little Malaysia is an OK restaurant if you have never tried Malaysian food. However, if you are a Malaysian, especially if you are a foodie, you might get disppaointed. However, for me the most important thing is the companionship, it was good fun having a night out with colleagues. Thanks, girls.

Anyway I just clicked on Feb to see what you were currently doing as your recipes read quite nice and it seems that I know Yasmine as well :)
